Behaviour Hub

The Department for Education (DfE) is currently funding a 3-year programme to help schools improve their behaviour culture. The programme is based on an independent review by the DfE’s Lead Behaviour Adviser, Tom Bennett.

Good behaviour, routines and structures in schools support all pupils’ engagement in education, and their mental health and wellbeing. As part of the Behaviour Hub programme, schools and MATs work together to apply these principles to the individual context of their school and MAT.

Behaviours for Learning is one of our ‘Aspire Spotlight’s’ this year, so we have joined the Behaviour Hub as a partner alongside The Grove Academy.

Over the last few months, we have been working with a lead school and Trust to develop our behaviour management, culture and practices. Support has included training, open days, networking events and access to resources.

So far, key staff members at The Grove Academy have conducted the school-level baseline, implemented surveys, started developing their action plan, visited their lead school and undertaken a variety of different training modules. These included Action Planning, Leadership and Management, Systems and Norms, Consequences including Sanctions & Rewards, SEND and Attendance and Punctuality. At the start of 2024 they will launch their action plan, which will then be monitored for the rest of this academic year.

Central Services team members from Aspire have also visited the offices of a lead MAT, to understand how they have implemented structures internally and developed the behaviour culture across their Trust.

The Grove Academy are regularly sharing their journey with all the other schools in the Trust. Members of the SLT from various schools have already worked alongside The Grove Academy leads, sharing best practice and implementing current thinking into their own schools.
