Modern Foreign Languages

Shree Deb

Modern Foreign Languages is led by Mrs Warner.

At Bovingdon Primary Academy we give our pupils the skills and the knowledge to learn another language, primarily focussing on French. We teach pupils about other cultures to foster their curiosity and deepen their understanding.

French is taught from Years 3 to 6 by a specialist teacher. We teach and assess across the four strands of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Pupils cover a range of topics from numbers, colours, food, clothing, school, weather and many more.

Key language and skills are taught through songs, stories and games alongside traditional teaching.

Once a year we hold a ‘Languages Day’ where pupils are given the opportunity to learn about all aspects of another country as well as share their own knowledge and experiences.
